Sickness absence - from reporting sick to reporting fit for work
According to AAU’s “Policy on sickness absence”, you, as an employee, are obliged to and responsible for informing your employer if you fall ill. Furthermore, you must also state whether it is your own or your child’s ilness. This will ensure correct registration of the sickness absence and, for your own good, the department will know why you may not be able to fulfil your duties. The department will also have a true and fair picture of its workforce and be able to obtain compensation if you are absent due to illness for more than a fortnight.
In case you need to report sickness, please follow these steps:
- Sickness must be reported by e-mail to sickness@hst.aau.dk and to your immediate manager
- You must report sick when working hours begin on the first day of your sickness absence
- After reporting sick, you will receive an e-mail from Aalborg University's general sickness reporting system regarding the cause of your sickness absence (own or child’s sickness)
- When you resume work in full or on a part-time basis, you must report fit for work by e-mail to sickness@hst.aau.dk and to your immediate manager
Please note that HST HR can only register sickness reported by you - not by your colleagues or line managers. Only you yourself can report your sickness.
If you are called in for surgery or other long-term medical treatment, you must immediately send the dates of your sickness absence (the information you have at that time) to sickness@hst.aau.dk
